Modular prefabricated site offices and accommodation make a grand entrance into Maun!

The versatility of the Speedspace portable solution, in meeting Discovery Metals' requirements, in terms of functional, modular, prefabricated site and office accommodation designs, proves, once again, the advantage of Parkhomes.

Discovery Metals' Boseto Copper Project is located in North-West Botswana, approximately 80 km south-west of the town of Maun, within the district of Ngamiland. The Boseto Copper Project is located within a belt of significant copper-silver mineralisation that extends from the well-known and more highly developed Zambian Copper Belt across North-West Botswana and into Namibia. The poorly explored and undeveloped portion of this belt in North-West Botswana is known as the Kalahari Copper Belt.

Project summary: Speedspace was required to provide mobile site accommodation, ablution facilities and site office solutions for the project, utilising portable, modular prefabricated site accommodation.

The contract consisted of the following:

January 2011: Supply and installation of a 450-man camp, totalling 1 433 m2 of mobile, modular, prefabricated accommodation and ablution facilities, complete with air conditioning and plumbing. The senior accommodation consisted of a customised modular design comprising single rooms with en-suite ablution facilities. The site ablutions consisted of portable toilet units and shower units, fully equipped, and complete with electrical geysers installed. The electrical and plumbing reticulation was also completed by Speedspace.

May/June 2011: Setting up of a temporary, prefabricated accommodation and ablutions camp in Toteng Village, to allow for a further 100 people. The 33 mobile Parkhome sleeper units and ablution facilities totalled 720 m2, and included the now popular Speedcabin accommodation solution, which comprises single and double mobile sleeping quarters.

July/August 2011: Setting up of temporary, prefabricated, family residential accommodation, as well as single mobile sleepers, with a communal ablutions camp, in Toteng Village. The 18 mobile Parkhomes consisted of two- and three bedroom units, fully equipped with mobile kitchen, diner and bathrooms. Besides supplying Parkhomes, Speedspace is also providing Discovery Metals with a fully equipped, insulated, containerised mobile kitchen facility, complete with coldrooms, as well as a 210 m2 modular dining facility comprising 14 Speedcabin units, which will be transported in flatpack to site, and erected and joined on site. An insulated, containerised laundry facility will also be provided on site.

Detailed updates as well as photographs to be published on this website towards end July 2011.
